Open Science
Open Science is a movement to make scientific knowledge, data and their dissemination in electronic form available not only to the scientific community but also to the general public. This approach brings new opportunities arising from the link between open access to scientific knowledge and innovation.
Open Access and Open Data are the key elements of Open Science.
Open Science is not precisely defined; the term covers many approaches and goals. The main idea is to achieve better scientific results through close collaboration and communication between researchers. The whole research process becomes easier and faster. Open access to results and the involvement of the general public in their production are integral.
The main benefits of open science are:
- Availability of scientific results that are reusable.
- Transparency, which is a huge benefit to scientific integrity at all stages of the scientific process.
- Reproducibility and thus more robust scientific results.
- Collaboration, which deepens many times over.
- Dissemination of results that is more efficient and faster. Increased visibility for the scientists and the institutions.
